Community Sharing - Coalition Lax Giving Back

by Trenton Gafner

Thank you to all the families that were able to make donations to our collection for Community Sharing! We collected over 5 grocery carts full of donations for this local organization!

Community Sharing is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that has been providing food and financial support to those in need since 2004, in 2017 they expanded to assist the Huron Valley School District and currently provide assistance on average to over 700 residents each month!

Myself, Coach Ristau and several of our players/ parents met up and delivered the donations personally to the Community Sharing Outreach Center Highland, Michigan. They expressed many thanks to all our families who donated and shared how wonderful it was the boys were able to be part of the drop off. Coach Ristau also shared this sentiment "Being able to go to Community Sharing was a great experience for the guys. People often make donations, but don't get to see how much help they are actually providing to people in their own community. It was a very worthwhile experience for everyone involved".

Coach Gafner thoughts "This year we want to continue to prove that we are more than a lacrosse club. Meaning we are about building our boys into great young men. Our club saying is Effort Matter and who we are on the lacrosse field doesn't define us. What we do on and off the field is a big part of the young men we are trying to help raise. So, this was the first time we did a donation for anyone. I think it went well, the players that got to take the donations to Community Sharing got more out of this experience. So we will look to add to the program and to what we can do. Glad to give back but we can do more as a club"

If anyone has any ideas, of what we should do next please contact Coach Gafner at
